Meet Your Makers: Kanji Writing

Meet Your Makers: Kanji Writing

Madison Public Library - Central

Drop in for a drawing jam with some amazing Madison artists! Bubbler program coordinator Trent Miller will be leading this drop-in hands on activity. We'll have all kinds of drawing materials out and work on some large scale drawing projects. Calligraphy is a bit of a dying art these days, with technology taking over the fine art of penmenship. But not with Japanese. Japanese has an entire alphabet that is basically made out of symbolic imagery—Kanji. Kanji was introduced to Japan nearly 2,000 years ago. It is actually one of only two languages in the world that still use an image system of writing.
