Mary Stelletello

Mary Stelletello, MA, MBA brings more than 20 years experience in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors to her coaching and consulting work in the areas of governance, leadership development, strategy development, training, facilitation and organizational capacity building.

Mary is a certified professional coach with the Coaches Training Institute and credentialed by the International Coach Federation. She uses these skills with nonprofit executives, board leaders and management staff to strengthen their abilities and skills to guide organizations to excellence.

Mary is known for her depth of experience “walking in the shoes” of CEOs and board leaders and working in networks. She brings a dedication to social impact, a can-do attitude and commitment to partnering with clients to deliver high quality, on-time, extraordinary results. Mary facilitates with an inclusive and engaging style. All with an element of fun!
Mary designs and facilitates learning communities for executive directors and emerging leaders and capacity building workshops in the areas of strategic planning, governance and program impact. Mary customizes trainings that are culturally responsive and interactive.

Clients include: The Sierra Club, ACLU, League of Women Voters of CA, AARP, NAACP, The Hawaii Community Foundation, Moishe House, Girls on the Run Dane County, Children’s Museum of South Dakota, Legal Aid Society of Hawaii and International Youth Foundation.

Before founding Vista Global, Mary was a Senior Associate with La Piana Consulting, a national management consulting firm. Prior to consulting, Mary held executive director positions with several youth-serving nonprofits, ranging in annual budget size from $150,000 to $13 million. These organizations offered services for runaway, and homeless youth; legal services for abused and neglected children; and services fostering youth development. In Mary’s last position as an executive director, she served as Executive Director of AYUSA Global Youth Exchange, an international nonprofit providing high school exchange opportunities for youth from 60 countries.

In the philanthropic sector, Mary served as Director of Grant Management and subsequently as Director of Education and Leadership Programs for the International Youth Foundation. She has traveled to more than 25 different countries on six continents.

Active in community service, Mary serves as Past-Chair of the International Board of Directors for Amigos de las Americas, an international youth leadership organization. Other accomplishments include an International Fellowship in Community Development sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and participation in the Salzburg Seminar in Austria on the topic of Engaging Youth in Community Development. In addition, Mary is a contributor to The Leadership Challenge Activities Book, by James Kouzes and Barry Posner. Mary is a consultant member of the Engaged Governance Affinity Group of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management.

Mary holds a MA in Latin American Studies and an MBA in International Management from the University of New Mexico. She received a BA in Political Economics with a minor in Spanish from the University of California, Berkeley. She is fluent in Spanish and speaks some Portuguese. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, playing sports and biking with her partner Andy and exploring the hiking trails with her dog, Mia.
