Mapping Our Civic Infrastructure

Engagement through dialogue and deliberation. One person’s definition of civic engagement is another person’s definition of disenfranchisement. Participants are encouraged to explore the topic of public decision making as a member of their nonprofit or local community. Our communities face serious problems that often do not have technical solutions. They involve paradoxes and competing values requiring tough choices. Begin to understand deliberative practices in engaging in deliberative conversations. This is not a problem solving discussion but an interactive exercise where participants will come together to respond to several of these key questions in order to motivate and encourage a starting point for positive change in their own respective communities.
