Begin to understand deliberative practices in engaging in deliberative conversations. This is not a problem solving discussion but an interactive exercise where participants will come together to respond to several of these key questions in order to motivate and encourage a starting point for positive change in their own respective communities.

Evaluating programs for social impact is very important, yet many nonprofit, community-based, and grassroots organizations don't have the skills, tools, or capacity to successful do so. Conventional methods of program evaluation can be lacking when encountering the living-and-learning-in-place perspective that frequently characterizes nonprofit and community-based organization. This workshop was designed to help community-based or grassroots non-profit organizations identify opportunities, develop programs, prepare funding proposals, and document intangible outcomes to complement more conventional evaluation data. Change can be hard. Whether change is required for transformative improvement, evoking innovation, or ensuring commitment to social or cultural values and norms, the struggle to preparea community for change is often ignored. Sketchnoting is a visual note-taking process that allows you combine words with hand-sketched images to capture information in an organic, non-linear way. It will light up the brain.
Mike Rohde will teach you the basic elements of sketchnoting, then lead the group in a session where we all create sketchnotes together. This session is perfect for anyone who wants to learn a new way of capturing their ideas: from meetings and conferences to your own ideas and experiences.
The Workshop will introduce students to the basics of sketchnoting and visual thinking:
