Marita Herkert

Marita Herkert supports organizations in building capacity. She founded Marita Herkert Consulting, LLC in 2017 to accomplish this goal through program evaluation, research and grant writing.

Marita Herkert has worked in a variety of roles with a range of community benefit organizations; as a nonprofit program manager, an analyst for the Wisconsin Legislative Audit Bureau, as grant manager for a corporate giving program, in direct service work with the Salvation Army Family Services and through a teen parent home visiting program. These diverse experiences give her a variety of perspectives to programs and services.

Marita is passionate about engaging with nonprofit leaders and staff about the challenges of their programs and finding success through evaluation. Her style is deliberate, analytical, realistic and encouraging. She is inspired by the diversity of voices working to strengthen their communities and seeks to listen and learn before providing guidance. She believes there is untapped potential in every organization and is honored to provide education and capacity building to help organizations meet their goals and missions.

She holds a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration with fellowships in family support and violence prevention.
